Hurin was a human warrior who opposed Morgoth. At the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, Hurin was defeated and captured. Because of his defiance, and his skill in battle, Morgoth cursed Hurin to watch the tragedy inflicted on his family, especially on his children. After the death of his children, Morgoth released Hurin.
You are a cop, and can investigate one player each night to determine whether they are guilty or innocent. You win with the town.

Beware when revealing your role. Becoming known to Morgoth and his minions can be dangerous if he has set his mind against you.
Maeglin was the son of Aredhel, sister to the King of Gondolin, and Eol. In his youth, he and his mother fled from his father back to her homeland of Gondolin. Although he had high status in Gondolin, he fell in love with his cousin Idril, which was not reciprocated or accepted in his society. He wound up betraying the location of the hidden kingdom of Gondolin to Morgoth, leading to its downfall.

If you are lynched, you will also kill the person who casts the lynching vote against you.

As a Noldor, you have been exiled from your people's homeland of Valinor. Your only hope to return lies with the Silmarils. You win with the town, but only if all silmarils are held by other exiled Noldor or town characters that have (in bold) pledged that they will return the Silmarils to the Valar.

Turgon was leader of the hidden kingdom of Gondolin. Because of their strict isolationist policies, they were the last great elven kingdom of the first age to fall. You are a commuter. When you use your power, all night actions against you will fail. You may not use this power on consecutive nights.

As a Noldor, you have been exiled from your homeland of Valinor. Your only hope to return lies with the Silmarils. You win with the town, but only if all silmarils are held by other exiled Noldor or town characters that have (in bold) pledged that they will return the Silmarils to the Valar.

Fingolfin was brother to Feanor, and led his people into exile in Middle Earth. During the journey, Feanor betrayed Fingolfin's followers and burned the ships that were supposed to carry them across the sea. Rather than returning and begging the Valar for clemency, Fingolfin led his people across the perilous ice sheets to the north. This left a serious breach between the two groups, which was partly healed when Feanor's eldest son Maedhros renounced his claim to kingship and let it pass to Fingolfin.

After the elves were defeated at the Battle of Sudden Flame, Fingolfin despaired and rode to the gates of Angband, where he challenged Morgoth to single combat. Although he greatly wounded Morgoth, he was eventually struck down.

You are Gothmog

Angband Mafia

Angband is the great northern fortress of Morgoth. The members of this faction seek to dominate all of middle earth.

Gothmog is the chief of the Balrogs. Even before the creation of the world, Morgoth was gathering allies to himself. The first of these were the Balrogs, powerful spirits that clothed themselves in flame and darkness. Greatest among them was Gothmog. He was the one who slew Feanor, high king of the Noldor and perhaps the most powerful elf lord ever to live. Gothmog acts as a janitor when making the kill. Instead of making the kill, he can capture a player and place them in the endless dungeons beneath Angband. This will reveal their role to the mafia, but hide it from the town. There are, however, two restrictions on this. First, if Gothmog has captured a player, he may not take a night action the following night. Second, the player captured doesn't count as truly dieing until the second day after they are captured. So if Gothmog dies the night of, or the night or day after making a capture, the victim goes free.

Each member of the Angband mafia has one player they are particularly weak against. If they perform the night kill against that player, then one of two things will happen: there is a 50% chance that both will die. Otherwise, the kill will fail entirely.

Morgoth - Fingolfin
Glaurung - Turin
Gothmog - Ecthelion

In addition, each member has one foe that they are particularly strong against. Once the member's foe has RCd, then as long as they are alive you may block that player as a free night action (ie, in addition to any other action taken). The only restriction on this block is that any given player may not be blocked two nights in a row.

You are Curifin

Sons of Feanor

Feanor was the high king of the Noldor, one of the three great elven nations. He was also the creator of the Silmarils. When they were stolen, he and his sons swore to recover the Silmarils at any cost, and to make war on any who would deny them. Although Feanor died during the initial invasion, his sons are left to fulfill the oath.

To win the game, you must satisfy three conditions:

1)Control all three silmarils
2)Defeat the forces of Morgoth
3)Kill certain town players whose victory depends on getting control of the Silmarils so that they may be returned to the Valar.

Curifin was one of the sons of Feanor. He was most noted for betraying Beren and Luthien as they attempted to steal a Silmaril from Morgoth. He later too part in the sack of several elven cities in an effort to capture the stolen Silmaril. As an unrelated side note, Curifin's son Celebrimbor went on to create the Rings of Power with the help of Sauron. Curifin will appear guilty when investigated.

Collectively, the sons of Feanor have a kill, a silmaril investigation, and a jailkeep. Any of the members may do any of the actions, but only one action per member may be taken on any given night.

Elwe Thingol was king of the Sindar elves, along with his brother Olwe. As he was leading his people west towards the lands of the Valar, he met Melian, one of the Maiar. He fell in love and married her. Forsaking his march west, he settled his people and built a strong nation in Middle Earth.
Angband Mafia

Angband is the great northern fortress of Morgoth. The members of this faction seek to dominate all of middle earth.

Morgoth, is most powerful of the Valar, the great spirits who shaped the world. Though powerful, Morgoth grew hateful and covetous of all that he did not control. In the dawn of the world, he tried to make himself king over all of creation, but was cast down and imprisoned by the Valar. Upon his release, he destroyed the world's source of light, stole the Silmarils, and fled to his old fortress in Middle Earth. Now the deep elves (the Noldor) have come from across the sea to reclaim the stolen Silmarils.

Morgoth begins the game with two silmarils. Each silmaril acts as an automatic self save. If used as a save, the silmaril will be taken by the attacker. If for whatever reason the attacker cannot take possession of it, the Silmaril will be given to a player randomly chosen from those currently alive. They also provide some protection from most investigations.
They can be given away during the night, although the change in ownership will not take place until the following day.

Maedhros was the eldest son of Feanor, and is the Godfather of the sons of Feanor. In the beginning of the war, he was captured by Morgoth, but was rescued by his cousin Fingon. Because of this, he is closer to the other elven factions than the rest of the sons of Feanor. As a gesture of goodwill, he waived his claim to kingship of the Noldor in favor of his uncle. Maedhros will appear innocent when investigated.

Collectively, the sons of Feanor have a kill, a silmaril investigation, and a jailkeep. Any of the members may do any of the actions, but only one action per member may be taken on any given night
Turin was the son of Hurin, a leader of the humans who fought against Morgoth at the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. When Morgoth won the battle and broke the strength of the elvish and human nations, Turin was displaced from his homeland and sent to live in the care of Thingol, and elvish king. Because of the strength and defiance of Turin's father, Turin's family was cursed and harried by Morgoth. Although he spent his entire life fighting Morgoth, tragedy always followed in his wake. Finally, shortly after slaying the dragon Glaurung he took his own life.
Maglor is the second son of Feanor. Along with his elder brother, he unsuccessful attempted to unify the elves against Morgoth. After Morgoth's defeat, he attacked the victors and stole the Silmarils from them. But driven by pain and shame, he cast his Silmaril into the sea. Maglor will appear guilty when investigated.

Beren was a human from the ruling house of Dorthonion. When his kingdom was destroyed by Morgoth, he became an outlaw. He was eventually driven into the elven kingdom of Doriath. He met and fell in love with Luthien, the daughter of the elven king Thingol. Thingol was opposed to their romance, but finally consented to allow him and Luthien to marry in exchange for a Silmaril stolen from the crown of Morgoth. After a long and difficult struggle, he and Luthien finally recovered a Silmaril.

When Beren was killed by Carcharoth, a monstrous wolf bred by Morgoth, Luthien died of grief. In the halls of the dead, Luthien's grief moved Mandos, the keeper of the halls, to such pity that she and Beren were restored to life in exchange for Luthien's immortality.
